"The room was spacious and the temperature was perfect. It wasn't too hot or too cold. The food was delicious, ate tea and Breakfast, absolutely no complaints. The breakfast team were happy enough to swap my Black Pudding for additional Hash Browns so that was fantastic!"

"Everything was great, genuinely can't complain. Only thing I could think of was that my complimentary biscuit in the room had raisins in instead of chocolate."

"Lovely 2 night stay at the Hillsdale. Good coms before our trip regarding points of interest and good quality local restaurants. A very warm welcome on arrival from Steve with all the information needed. There is private parking approx 250m from the guesthouse which is vital in such a busy tourist area. The room was clean, comfortable, well decorated and furnished. Excellent breakfast cooked to order from a varied menu. All in all a very good stay and we would recommend without hesitation"

"Fantastic location. Far enough out of Ambleside to be a bit quieter but close enough to walk in. Right on the lake, great spot to watch the sun go down in the beer garden."

"It’s an older property that has been renovated, looks great but it’s still a bit creaky, you can hear quite a lot from your room."

"Melrose is an excellent place to stay. It is comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. The hosts, Tracy and Kevin, do their best to make sure you have a lovely stay. the breakfast is outstandingly good. we would not hesitate to stay here again."

"We had a brilliant stay. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, and very quiet despite it being a 5 minute walk from all the action in Ambleside. Breakfast was delicious, loads of choices and cooked fresh to order. We’d happily stay here again on our next trip to the Lake District!"
