"Breakfast was excellent, a large choice of cereals, I had the home made muesli with yoghurt followed by toast, poached eggs and salmon. The tea was tip top - good and strong. I've been coming to Ambleside since 1993 and it never disappoints. There's been some changes over the years but it's stayed a very welcoming place and Rothay House is true to the spirit of welcoming visitors. Free parking at the house was a major boon. I always use the local bus for walking trips around the Lakes and it was nice to be able to leave my car in a safe secure location and not have to constantly move it and check on it in public carparks."

"Nothing apart from it dropped really cold on one of the nights. I don't know if there was a problem with a timing issue or radiator but it was flat cold and even though I had a mess with it it wouldn't warm up at all. Apart from that, all excellent"
