"The location is unmatched, right on the beachfront with a bar, pool and plenty of lounges. The dorm rooms are spacious and surprisingly quiet because of all the fans and at the back of the property away from the noise of the bar which is great. The staff are always super lovely and helpful and the vibe is the best! Will definitely be back!"

"Fantastic place right next to the sea in Paje. Very sociable with a great mix of locals and travellers to meet. Awesome swimming pool and communal area, with friendly and helpful staff. I came for 3 days and stayed a week."

"This is my to go to hostel, I always stay at drifters, the staff are very friendly and helpful, they have delicious food and waking up with a view of the beach is just amazing. Never had trouble meeting other travelers here so that’s a plus."

"I was pleasantly surprised by the place’s coziness, especially for a hostel. The location was beautiful, and the pool was large and refreshing. It’s right on the beach, so you can swim in the sea or in the pool if you want. There were plenty of sun loungers. In the evenings, people gathered to sit and relax, with music and such. The location was really good—easy to walk along the beach to restaurants and the town."

"The location is amazing. The vibes are chill. Try e pool is clean. It is easy to meet people. I stayed in the female dormitory and there it is incredible easy to meet people. Almost everyone is solo travelling. I was supposed to stay a week, but I keep booking more nights. The place is pretty cool. For food I would highly recommend the tuna sandwich!"

"Drifters Hostel in Zanzibar is honestly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The owner, David, is incredibly kind, welcoming, and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home. The accommodation itself is amazing — comfortable, clean, and designed perfectly for both solo travellers and groups looking to meet people and have a good time. The location is absolutely unreal. You’re right on the beach with insane sunsets and crystal-clear water just steps away. It’s the kind of spot you think only exists in photos until you get there. Now the food… 11/10. I’m not exaggerating. Every meal is delicious, fresh, and really reasonably priced — especially for solo travellers on a budget. Whether you’re chilling, exploring, or looking to socialise, Drifters has the perfect vibe. Couldn’t recommend it more. If you’re coming to Zanzibar and looking for a place that feels like home but better, stay at Drifters. You won’t want to leave."

"This is the only place where you'll have a beachfront accommodation for a decent price. The location is absolutely perfect and the vibe is nice. The view is great, there is plenty of space to sit and relax during the day, and the pool is also very nice. Food was great! While there are a few issues with the property, I would say that it's overall worth staying there just for the location."

"As mentioned in many comments, it's loud until 3-4AM. I read the comments before, so I was expecting it, but make sure to bring earplugs if you want to sleep. Also, Paje is the place in Tanzania where there were the most mosquitoes. While this isn't the property's fault, one thing that struck us was that the mosquito net over our bed had holes in it and was not big enough to cover the whole bed. As a result, we woke up every morning with so many bites. We were glad to be taking malaria meds..."
