"The building has a wonderful feeling of age although it has been refurbished to a very high standard. Lots of interesting features from the past but done with taste. The staff are lovely, very helpful and attentive. The room had everything you could expect, highly recommend. The location is bang centre of the old town."

"we love hotel that are family run. we were welcomed by Rogerio, that was burn in this house! which belongs to the family since 1906! a beautiful place, with personal touch, super clean, comfortable, we arrived in the winter and the room was warm and ready for us, beautiful abundant breakfast, great service, strong wifi, amazing location! recommended!"

"Fantastic place right in the town centre with everything on your doorstep. Good size room which had beautiful views over the square and church. Lovely shared lounge and kitchen with equipment to use if you want to. Breakfast was good and in a room that was the owners old grocery shop with the history of the family . Very nice to meet the owners who are proud of their history and lovely. Obrigado"

"Mercearia da Vila was exceptional in hospitality, service & staff could not have done any more for us. Comfortable, large rooms with access to kitchen facilities. The staff were simply amazing with the attention to detail in all aspects of the breakfast they offered from homemade cake, coffee & tea made to order, small goods & cheese, a variety of yoghurts, cereals, spreads, jams, juices. The breakfast room was filled with history with many antique bottles, Knick knacks & furniture! Tastefully decorated throughout. Loved this property and would come back in a heartbeat! 💙"

"We had a fabulous stay at this lovely hotel. Gorgeous room with fantastic outlook to the square below. Lovely light filled room and comfortable bed. Great to have the kitchen to make a drink when needed. Location is perfect being right in the centre of town with all the cafes and shops nearby. Absolutely gorgeous breakfast room and superb breakfast. Staff really lovely, helpful and friendly. Highly recommended."
