In Bowness village, a 10-minute walk from Lake Windermere, this Victorian guest house still retains many of its original features. Offering free off-road parking, free Wi-Fi, and peaceful private gardens it is an ideal base for exploring Windermere and the Lake District. Rooms at Oakfold House are elegant in style, and some have traditional fireplaces. Each has an en-suite bathroom, flat-screen TV, and a drinks tray for tea, coffee and biscuits. A full Cumbrian breakfast is served each morning with meat sourced from award-winning local butchers Higginsons of Grange. Lighter options are also available including Scottish smoked salmon, grilled kippers and bircher muesli.

"To start, the owners are so lovely and friendly! You couldn't have better or more gracious hosts! The guest house is beautiful and the breakfast selections are all delicious and meet a variety of dietary needs! The rooms are comfortable and clean. They're beautifully decorated and come with a kettle with tea and coffee and the added bonus of heated towel rails which saved us after a couple of rainy days! We cannot wait to visit again!"
