"I live in Loja, a 50 minute taxi drive from the Catemayo (Loja) airport ... unless there are mud slides or other 'acts of nature'. So I decided to leave Loja on the day before an early morning flight to Quito on the regional airline. I stayed overnight at Gran Hotel Marcjohns, in downtown Catemayo, very close to the airport. The hotel staff were very welcoming. They arranged for a taxi pickup at 5:30 a.m. I slept well the night before, confident that I would arrive at the airport on time. I had a 4th floor room with a view of downtown Catemayo. The room was spacious, well appointed with dark wood furniture. The bed was comfortable, with crisp sheets and fluffy pillows. Windows offered a 180 degree view of downtown. I would choose this hotel again."

"Because the hotel is conveniently located downtown, there was some noise from traffic - but it did not prevent a good night's sleep."

"The staff was friendly, welcoming and kind. The room was clean; the bed was very comfortable and bed sheets and comforter were crisp and clean. The towel set up was perfect the first day, but then towels were not replaced as they were removed from the room each day, until only one towel remained. The breakfast was very good some mornings, with fresh eggs and warm rolls, and mediocre other days, with not-hot, not-soft eggs and hard, not yummy rolls. There was not fruit offered (I was there 8 days), only juice. The hotel location was good and in walking distance to parks, restaurants and activities."
