Located in the heart of Observatory in Cape Town, a lively student area, Green Elephant Backpackers offers budget accommodation. It features an outdoor pool and barbecue facilities. The hostel offers simply decorated rooms and dormitory rooms with shared or private bathrooms. Linen are included in the rooms and there is one dorm room exclusively for women. A daily breakfast is served on request, but there are also excellent coffee shops nearby, some with all day breakfasts. Themed dinners including home-made pizzas and chicken curry are served at the property. Green Elephant is the close to Groote Schuur Hospital, pubs, restaurants, public transport, shops, and theatres. A tour desk, a luggage storage space and laundry facilities are available. Guests can use the free WiFi in the public areas or relax in the garden. A vending machine with drinks is also available.

"The place is easy to adjust to. There are lots of places to sit and ponder in the yard. Given it takes a form of hostel for most sleeping rooms, rules are strictly enforced. Sometimes you feel like you arein your own room."

"My stay at green elephant backpackers was a truly memorable one. From the minute I walked in to the facility I felt the care and attention to detail from the staff members I encountered. The space was very clean and pleasant. The staff were all very friendly and approachable people, and the room super comfortable. The bed was so comfortable. I truly felt at home. The location is also very convenient, close to most of the amenities one needs, and with the bus and the train station at a walking distance away. It's also very close to Lower main rd which has many venues, Capetown art and culture and night life to explore. One also feels so safe and secure not only in the backpackers itself but also in the community which was a breadth of fresh air as a South African woman. I highly recommend Green elephant if you are open to staying in a calm community and willing to meet interesting new people on your time in the mother city."

"Kaijaiki is a true gem! I have stood in unit 4 which was super spaciouse, had a lovely well equipped kitchenett and a beautiful, tranquil view onto the courtyard. The next door coffee-store where breakfast is served is so cozy and food is deliciouse. Manager and staff go over and above to make my stay comfortable. Highly recommend it."

"We really enjoyed the accommodation. We were kindly welcomed right at our car for check-in and received plenty of helpful information and guidance. The room is beautiful, spacious, clean, and extremely comfortable, (the bathroom is amazing!) The property is located on a farm, with lovely orchards and a beautiful garden, which we really enjoyed. It’s about 15 minutes from MQP airport; since we planned to leave very early, the host kindly packed our breakfast so we could enjoy it in our room before departing."
