"Rooms are spread over several terraces with lots of flowers. We were on the top and had a great view. Being at elevation, it's nice and cool at night. No fans needed. Great new showers with good hot water. They have a pump system through which there is still water when the power is out. A generator is turned on if there is a power cut in the morning or evening. The restaurant is very good. During lunch it is particularly well visited. For breakfast and dinner it's primarily hotel guests. Great breakfast with lots of fruits and good bread. Dinner was a daily changing dish by a daily rotating local chef. Large parking lot. Nearby attractions are Monte Café and Cascata de São Nicolau."

"We arrived right on the day of a big storm which primarily hit the highlands. For the next few days CST, the telephone company, was everywhere fixing lines. There was no wifi for the whole two days we were at the hotel. It is possible that this was a consequence of the storm. We made it work with mobile data. The hotel sells credits if you have a CST Sim card."

"Roca Saudade is a very convenient starting point to explore the area around Monte Cafe, Sao Nicolao waterfalls and Milagrosa, which can be hiked independently from here. My room was clean and calm with a great view to the sea, perfect for relaxing and reading. The team was friendly and helpful. I loved the setting of the restaurant with a great view into & the sounds of the green 'jungle'."

"The food was really good. Unfortunately there was no variation at all. Therefore I would recommend to definitely have one or two meals here, but find other options for further days."

"One of the best experiences on the island. The view is outstanding, the bungalows are very clean and above all, the staff is very welcolming and take turns to prepare excellent meals. They take to heart to create a cosy atmosphere that gives you a change of scene."

"Incredibly beautiful accommodation right in the heart of jungle. Amazing views and delicious local food served in the restaurant. We were also helped to organise a tour with a guide in Obo park starting from Jardim Botanico. All in all, I would surely stay again in Roça Saudade"

"Roça Saudade is in the Almada Negreiros Museum also... So it's the perfect place to stay in the center of the island. Joaquim (from roça) and Emanuel (from the restaurant) are amazing hosts. Would love to return."
