Just 5 km from the fortified town of Elvas, the recently refurbished Varchotel features typical Alentejo architecture. It offers bright rooms with actual décor and satellite flat-screen TVs. The boutique-hotel’s Dom Januário Bistrot has a separate area where the daily breakfast buffet is served. "Everything was as expected. Despite looking a bit tired on the outside, it was very clean and comfortable. Location to the motorway was great, and we were able to bring our dog."

"The location -walking distance to the beach was great. Peaceful atmosphere, very chill. Very well equipped with everything you need. Magnificent views from the room. Friendly staff, although it was off-season so everything was a little slow."
"Very nice place. Very quiet, in the middle of horses. It was so nice to sit on the veranda and soak in the atmosphere. The veranda is also very nicely sheltered from the wind."
