"With friendly staff, clean rooms, a good expanded-continental breakfast buffet, and a fine location in the center of town, this hotel is a great choice. The classic building itself is very impressive, and offers some interesting interior stonework, a nice guest lounge, and other sitting nooks here and there — the hotel is practically an extension of the beautiful, historic town in which it is centered. Don’t miss the photo of Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno, who stayed here in 1908 when, I presume, it was still a private residence. (Note: though the site placed a tiny Spanish flag under my name -- and I don't really have any objection -- I'm actually from the USA.)"

"breakfast buffet included, no option to decline and get refund. Basic choices but lots of it. Hotel is built into the rock making it very quirky. Owners allowed me to park bike on their private forecourt rather than on the main road."

"no English spoken. My fault, not theirs but I cannot learn every language on the planet! I already have English, Spanish and French. Portuguese was a step too far in the time I had available. Lots of stairs and disjointed hallways. Great if on ground floor or with little baggage, bit of a hike otherwise"
