Carmen's place

"TOT!! La Carmen ens va fer un upgrade a la jungle cabin, les habitacions de dalt, sense que li demanessim i la veritat que va ser tot un encert. La tranquilitat i les vistes desde l’habitació son una passada. Només arribar vam veure tot el que havia pescat en Marcel i que la Carmen cuinaria després per sopar, brutal. (Es una gran cuinera i persona) El que va acabar de fer perfecte la nostra estada es el fet de que tinguin dos taxistes (taxiboat) de confiança que et poden portar a visitar tan les illes dels voltants com les altres zones de bastimentos. A part tenen un cayak i un padelsurf per fer servir i veure les zones dels voltants. Estada mes que perfecte! Si tornem per Panama, tornarem segur a Carmens Place!!! Moltes gràcies per tot!"

"Les habitacions ben cuidades, la ubicació tot i estar a una illa i necessitar una lanxa taxi si vols sortir de ella, no és un problems, es poden fer bastantes activitats dins la illa o relaxar-te inclús, el lloc és idílic. Els amfitrions et fan sentir com a casa, és d’agraïr i apart es preocupen per a que no et falti de res en tot moment i t’ajudaran en tot el que necessitis."

"Staying at Carmen’s Pace is wonderful. You are felt welcome from the moment you arrive and Carmen and Marcel cannot be more helpful. Breakfasts are delicious, including a huge platter of fresh fruit, home made bread, omelettes and pancakes. We particularly enjoyed the evening meals where we all ate together. The food Carmen prepared was exceptional and the chat around the table lovely. Carmen helped us to organise great trips and any water taxis that we needed. We had a fantastic stay and were sad to leave."

"Our stay at Carmen's Place was excellent. From the moment Carmen greeted us on the deck, we felt like we were at a friend's house – delicious dinners, excellent breakfasts, and engaging conversations shared on the beautiful terrace overlooking the sea – wonderful. Carmen was always there to help. The place is very clean and well-maintained, and the views are incredible. Old Bank and Wizard Beach are accessible via a local path, which was a great adventure for us. I recommend this place to everyone and hope to return someday."

"Everything basically. Carmen, the host, runs more of a community than a bed and breakfast. Very cosy very nice details and she takes a lot of care of her guests! And she is a great cook. Staying for dinner is recommended."

"A very luxurious thing would have been an AC but only to fall asleep. Still with the fan it was completely ok."

"I had a wonderful stay at Carmen's place! She and Marcel are friendly outgoing hosts, and the guesthouse has an amazing location surrounded by the jungle facing the bay. Carmen took very good care of me as a solo traveller, suggesting destinations for day-trips and activities to me and catering to small personal needs as an extra-ration of sand fly-repellent or my daily early morning tea :-) Apart of excursions to Zapatillas and Red Frog Beach, I roamed around by kayak and SUP and Carmen also organised to go out as a group for dinner and to watch some live music, which was a lot of fun! Last but not least, she prepares great dinners with different dishes and provides a generous breakfast with local fruit, pancakes, bread, jam, and your choice of eggs. Would love to come back in the future !"

"The foot path to Old Bank (and the turn-off to beautiful Wizard Beach) involves crossing the mangrove swamp on thin wooden planks initially. This is not for everybody, and otherwise, you have to rely on boat taxis for every excursion. However, transport via water is a normal condition on all islands in Bocas del Toro, apart of Isla Colon. Another thing, which is not negative but good to know, is that the windows in the main house's rooms have only wooden shutters, no screens or glass panes. There are mosquito nets above the beds, though, and I had no problems with bugs."
