"We stayed in the ‘Tack Room’, one of the converted stables room, small but very cosy and well equipped and with a very comfy bed. We could use other rooms and outdoor space for reading and relaxation, and the whole building was a model of tasteful renovation. Our host was really friendly and provided a lovely breakfast. We ate at the restaurant both nights of our stay and food / service was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and we rather sorry to move on."

"Unable to get a reservation for dinner, you would think paying that much for a room would guarantee a table for 2. Extremely noisy room from the bar at night up until 11pm. No air con or fan to cool the room. Very dusty, .all cobwebs & dust around the in room bath & somebody elses hairbrush left under the bed, inadequate cleanliness. Felt it was almost Winter decor (sheepskin bed throw, dusty antique ice skates hung on wall ) and very dark lighting, also strange for the death of Nelson to be the chosen print on the wall too! All in all a poor show for the cost, left feeling very disappointed."

"After a busy day of driving from Hokitika, we decided to split our drive to Kaikoura by staying at this hotel for one evening. Upon check-in the young woman clearly explained the restaurant hours, breakfast plan and how to use the outdoor jacuzzi which we definitely utilized for star-gazing later that evening. Since the hotel is literally in the middle of mountains and valleys and rivers, the views from the hotel/restaurant/villa were fantastic. We spent a few hours star-gazing the Milky Way which is our passion and one of the objectives for staying here for the evening. Given the hotel's location, the restaurant menu was quite limited which is a shame but understood given its remoteness. Lovely stay and would definitely recommend this hotel for those considering....."
