"Ttunu House is truly a hidden gem in the middle of the old town — quiet, peaceful, and yet very conveniently located. The environment is calm despite being in a lively area. The house was extremely clean and well maintained. The staff were very warm, attentive, and always ready to help. They assisted us with grocery shopping, cooking, housekeeping, and even helped coordinate our daily plans, which made our stay very comfortable and stress-free."

"The whole house is incredible. The photos don’t do it justice online. It is a little paradise in Lamu town. The staff were incredible - Stephen’s cooking was delicious and they were attentive while still giving us tons of space. We absolutely loved our whole experience and stay."

"great service from Anton and Steve the chief. Elizabeth who manages the property met us and checked and us out. She sorted private yoga and guides for us and was very nice to us. I will just caution that the bedrooms have fans but it was still very hot at night and made sleeping a bit tough but i have bit of a sleep problem and it was about the hottest time of the year to go. The pool is wonderful for a town house and the top roof terrace is very breezy and great to have dinner. Steven is a great chief and Anton took us to where we wanted to go and very keen to help the guests."

"We stayed at Ttunu House in January 2025, and it was simply incredible! The house is beautiful, lovingly restored, and tastefully furnished. There is truly not a single thing to complain about! The Ttunu House team—Cornelius, Stephen, and Jackson—did everything to make our stay perfect and unforgettable. Stephen cooks whatever guests desire, with only the cost of groceries charged, while the service itself is included. Upon request, we had the best tuna steaks of our lives, served with grilled vegetables and Kachumbari (a Kenyan tomato salad). For those looking for an extraordinary vacation far from tourist hotspots but without sacrificing luxury, Ttunu House is the perfect choice! We would love to come back."

"Super clean and beautiful house in the heart of Lamu, you are closed to the port and the main street. A few minutes away from the fort. It is super accessible! On top of that the staff is great with a really detailed attention in keeping the rooms tidy every single day and multiple times a day + a chef that cooked us the most delicious dishes + they arrange transport depending on your needs ! The perfect mix to just lay back and enjoy your holidays!"

"After a slight misunderstanding as to the day or arrival, Elizabeth and Cornelius promptly managed to solve the issue and pick us up and have the house ready for us. The staff was always courteous and available to help us. Steven, the cook, cooked wonderful meals as per our requests and we settled all bills directly with him. The swimming pool is marvelous and the terrace is also a wonderful spot when the breeze flows. Highly reccomendable if you prefer to stay in Lamu old Town to explore historic sights, rather than in Shela."

"There are some slight aspects that should be improved: booking.com mentions that transportation to/from the airport is included, but then you are asked for money to cover it on the side. There is no A/C, which is common in Lamu, but yet a house of this standard could consider it, since Lamu is such a hot place and it's difficult to sleep in the rooms. The decoration and confort of the whole house is lovely, but some minor details could also be improved, such as the chairs of the outside deck by the pool which are a little "off"; the placing of mosquito nets in all windows; mattresses of the beds are a bit on the hard side; not all rain showers functioned properly and there was only cold water (which anyways in Lamu is most welcome)."

"Lamu ist zu 90% muslimisch. Man sollte nicht unbedingt in der Zeit des Ramadan dorthin reisen, da die Dauerbeschallung der zahlreichen Muezzins von eine Vielzahl von Moscheen gerade nachts sehr stören kann. Lamu selbst ist sehr dreckig und bedauerlicherweise fehlt es der lokalem Bevölkerung an Empathie gegenüber dem Umgang mit dem Weltkulturerbe. Jedoch haben es vor allem Leute von weit außerhalb verstanden, in Lamu Refugien zu errichten, die Tradition und Zeitgeist zusammen bringen. Das Haus ist ein gutes Beispiel dafür."

"Gorgeous house with spacious rooms! We were a group of friends and had a great time relaxing around the pool and enjoying the wonderful hospitality of the house management. The interiors were absolutely stunning and very comfortable. The meals prepared were so fresh and delicious we often chose to stay in!"
