This eco-friendly boutique-hotel, 30 minutes’ drive from Reykjavik, is surrounded by nature in the town of Ölfus. It offers free use of an outdoor wooden hot tub and arranges Icelandic horse riding tours on site. Quality beds, along with a TV, desk and seating area are provided in all Hótel Eldhestar rooms. Décor is inspired from Iceland’s nature. Each room has a private entrance with direct access to the surrounding fields. Guests can relax in the communal fireplace lounge, in the bar or on the sun terrace during nice weather. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Eldhestar also has a bistrot with a daily special. The Blue Lagoon with its hot springs and centre de tractaments, as well as Reykjavik Airport, are both 40 minutes’ drive from the casa rural.

"We were very comfortable, there was good access and parking. We appreciated the complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate facilities in the lounge. Plenty of room in the bedroom with settee and large modern bathroom. Breakfast was very good, especially the waffle maker :) Northern lights were visible outside. Food at restaurant was excellent."

"The hotel is in excellent location for our Golden Circle route. It is just under 1 hour from Reykavik and 80 mins from Keflavík Airport. It is 5 mins drive to Hveragerdi for food options but without the light pollution. It was set back enough from route 1 and the surrounding was remote enough for us to spot the Northern Lights. Room is simple but well designed, super clean and very comfortable bed. Love the bathroom too and certainly excellent value for money. It has an equestrian centre onsite but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to go for a riding tour. Breakfast was simple but adequate."

"Eldhestar is set in a beautiful, peaceful location surrounded by nature, which makes it a wonderful place to unwind. We stayed only one night, just to sleep over, but the overall impression was very pleasant. The breakfast was excellent — fresh, varied, and exactly what we needed before continuing our trip. The hotel itself feels cozy and welcoming, and we appreciated the calm atmosphere. There are also two hot tubs available for guests, which is a great feature, even though we didn’t have the chance to use them."
"The only thing that could be improved is the bathroom. The shower water tends to spill over onto the floor, which makes the area around the toilet quite wet. Some of the accessibility fixtures also look a bit worn. It wasn’t a major issue, but updating the bathroom would make the stay even better."

"this is an amazing place - wild location and so many gorgeous icelandic ponies. The restaurant serves the best food that we had in our whole trip and was great value for money given just how pricey iceland is. take a pony ride if you can it is absolutley the best way to appreciate the amazing landscapes and the ponies are very very well behaved"
