It is not walking distance to Jiufen which is a good thing because it's too busy there and I rather drive a few minutes for a visit and then back to some peace and quiet. "This was the first place we stayed in Mauritius and what a start. Very spacious. Stone throwing distance from blue bay; yet far enough to not get a feeling of crowd. We wish we stayed longer."

"Beautiful property atop a hill, with nice views of the surroundings (including a view of the Queen's Palace). Very clean. Elegant decor. Comfortable beds. Access to private swimming pool (competition-length, which is great for serious swimmers), a pool-house equipped with grill, bar, tables, and games (ping pong and foosball), and a private playground for younger children. We ordered 1 meal that was excellent, served in-house by the hosts. The hosts live in a separate unit on the property and they were available whenever we had questions. One of the hosts used to be a competitive swimmer and she gave the children a swim lesson. A relaxing place if you want to get away from the bustle of downtown Tana."

Somewhat difficult to find if you're driving yourself, but that's no fault of the hosts and the isolation does make the property more peaceful. Besides, property access won't be a problem if you ask the hosts to organize transportation for you (either car or motorcycle). There was a water shortage due to a drought at the time of rental, but again that's no fault of the hosts. We just had to be careful about our water consumption and it all worked out just fine. Treat the hosts with respect and they will definitely return the favor (they surprised us with freshly baked bread on our last day!)

Kitchen equipment could do with a bit of a refresh - eg chopping boards. And it's more expensive than anywhere else we stayed - but it was totally worth it, we loved it.

The landlord gave a lot of very exacting instructions on the use of the facilities in the property, which made us a bit nervous about using things incorrectly or potentially breaking anything!

"Just an amazing place right by the beach. Owner Luca and manager Wally are two of the most generous hosts I have ever met. Our flight was cancelled so we arrived a day late, but Luca deducted that first night. We will certainly be back"

"Martin and Gabriela are the loveliest hosts you can find. A couple who retired from Bavaria to build their paradise here, they are warm, hospitable, helpful and friendly. And you’ll get to stay in a paradise indeed in your time there. Their breakfast are of home made jam, bread, preserved fruits. The eggs are all from free range chicken reared in their yards. And very good coffee too. You will get to know their lovely pet Rocky, a husky, and another smaller dog whose name I forgot. There’s also a cat Sisi. They will pick u up by car from your bus stop off . Depending on the circumstance they may even give you a tour of the local towns. The rooms are clean and comfortable. With free WiFi. All in all I couldn’t have found better place to stay and hosts! ☺️"

We were a group of 9 which is probably the maximum this house can take, the sofa bed wasn’t the most comfortable but was fine for our shorter trip. Everything worked really well and the hotel this villa is connected to had great facilities like a sauna and hottib which were free to use. The host was great, the location for this villa is slightly incorrect on this site as it was a bit further out than we expected but the host was helpful in getting us transport everymoring to the ski centers."

"Gorgeous view!! Loved having the private pool and outside space to relax. Friendly staff at check in and check out. Would definitely come back here if I’m staying on Curacao again! Loved the coffee machine with milk foamer, ideal for ice coffee’s :)"

- Confusing check in. Drove all the way down to then have to drive all the way back up again? - Got told on check in that they have a fair use electric policy. I asked for further info about how much usage that meant and how much I would have to pay extra but the staff could not clarify, only that we should use aircon max of 12 hrs a day. We are sensible with electric, but still made me wonder if we had to pay at end of stay. (We didn’t have to luckily) - Could not turn off outside lights and it bothered me as the room wasn’t very dark because of that. (Also thought they were concerned about electric usage??) I asked the question but never got a reply from them… I would recommend improving these points, but we still had an amazing stay!!

The only inconvenience was that we ran out of water and weren't able to use until next morning, and the water tank that was filled during the night overflowed and downpoured on 1 of the rooms causing rapturous noise until we finally got a hold of a staff to close the tube(?).

"Tranquil, well equipped, rustic cottage. Stunning views of the sea from the balcony. Kitchen has all the utensils and basic amenities needed for cooking. Beach towels and cool box were a great addition too. The bathroom is clean and toiletries were availbale. Marco met us from the airport to guide us to the place, stopping with us at a local supermarket en route. Surrounded by nature and beautiful beaches close by (by car), this place was a perfect place to relax! There is a beach just a 3-minute stroll away."
