Opposite a Grade I listed church, The Knife & Cleaver is a AA 4 Gold Star award winning guest house. It is trobated in the picturesque village of Houghton Conquest, just 15 minutes’ drive from Bedford city centre and main line rail station of Ampthill. Countryside walks can be enjoyed in the surrounding area, or venture into Bedford to enjoy sights such as St Paul’s Square, River Great Ouse or Embankment Gardens. An en suite bathroom, free Wi-Fi and a TV are provided in each room at The Knife & Cleaver, and some come with a king-size bed. "It was a beautiful pub and location. The only problem was that booking.com sent me confirmation but when we turned up they had not contacted the knife and cleaver who were now fully booked. The staff were lovely and apologetic"
"As booking.com had messed up we sat in the car and fortunately found an Airbnb nearby. If staying here my advice would be to phone the knife and cleaver to check the booking has gone through."
