Hostal El Colibri

"Didn’t actually stay in the Colibri (hummingbird) Hostal; opened at 9am and young guy handed me the phone to talk to Richard (the owner) who said we were actually staying in the Bayti 100m down the road. Bayti was lovely with an internal courtyard and Richard was good company and very helpful. Good breakfast (from 9am - Vicuña doesn’t start early!). Good location a few mins walk into centre. Vicuña is a nice small town with lots of bars/restaurants and a nice feel. Richard pointed us to Elki Magic, a small company who runs car, bicycle and other tours in the Elqui valley."

"Our room was duplex with the bedroom on the top floor which got very warm during the day (fan was provided but little ventilation); ok at night."

"A beautiful hostel in a quiet part of the town. The facilities including the breakfast were really impressive. The garden was a lovely place in which to unwind."

"We spent 5 nights in this lovely place. The staff were very helpful with everything, they gave us lots of information about all the things you could do during your stay. The garden is very beautiful with all the flowers, trees and hummingbirds. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the center but still quiet and peaceful. The shared kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to prepare meals during your stay. The "basic" breakfast was very filling with lots of options ( bread, jams, coffee, different cheeses, juice, fruit, olives...) Thank you! :)"

"I would absolutely stay here again. We were welcomed warmly, shown around the place, they were flexible with leaving our stuff on check-out and it's a short walk from the town centre. They also have dedicated parking and gave us a a set of keys to the garage gate which meant that we could come and go as we pleased. We loved our stay and wished we'd had the time to book some extra nights."

"My only improvement would be for the shower- the shower head sprayed water over my head instead of pointing down."

"Communication with the owner before and during my stay. I had an upgrade of my stay in another hostel. Owner speaks perfect english. They have delicious homemade yoghurt and jam, good bread and goatcheese for breakfast. Also good tips for tours in Valle de Elqui."
